LFTR – US – CA – Roadside oddities make me happy. Giant Rock, Integratron, Pioneer town

Well I tend to meander throughout life and just find interesting places and roadside oddities as well as areas natural beauty. Yesterday, I got a taste of all 3. I was wandering around the high desert with my cousin. I got to see the worlds largest freestanding rock correctly called ‘Giant Rock’

Some guy in the1920’s built his house that was a 20×20 area in the ground underneath Giant Rock and it made me wonder if that is where the expression ‘Do you live under a rock?’ came from.
He sold the property to a man that made an airport in the desert next to giant rock and was visited by extraterrestrials and they helped him to build the Integratron. Score!!! I love these kinds of things. Now the Integratron is a retreat center.

Then we went to pioneer town where many western movies and TV program were shot but it’s also a real town with people that have houses that live there.

  1. Very cool. Was just reading about the Integreton yesterday…planning to research it a bit more, then here you come with more info! Perfect. Am Soo looking forward to hanging with you , Muggy.

  2. Interesting that the rock is called the largest free standing rock in the world. I thought Ayers Rock in Australia was the largest one, but maybe it’s not considered “free standing”.
