CT Couchsurfing Annual Pumpkin Carving Party 2018
October 27, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Hello all, The Local Connecticut Couchsurfing Community is hosting their annual Pumpkin Carving party on Oct. 27th. Please take the time to read this entire post. Thanks! Couchsurfing is a world wide movement of hosting and sharing for travelers that is free to the traveler. I have been a couchsurf host since 2008 and it has been a life changing experience for me. It is my preferred method of traveling. If you are curious at all about what couchsurfing is all about (see www.couchsurfing.com) please consider attending this event. I always tell people that they should check out the local gatherings, meet and talk to people. Here is a list of FAQ’s about Couchsurfing: 1. Aren’t you afraid that you are staying with an AX murderer? No, clearly – because after over 50 excellent couchsurfing experiences, I’m still alive. 2. Aren’t you worried that people you are hosting are AX murderers? No after hosting dozens of people in my house and RV over the years – guess what? I’m still alive! 3. Does Couchsurfing cost anything? Yes, there is a once lifetime fee of $25.00 as a ‘suggested donation’, so technically it can be free. It is free to stay at people’s homes. 4. What kind of people do you meet, I mean really? I have found the couchsurfing community to be overwhelmingly quality people. I attended a local event within the last two weeks. I met several tenured professors, a few adjunct professors, and investment banker, a software engineer, a mechanical engineer, two au pairs, a carpenter, a manager, some chickens and a partridge in a pear tree. 🙂 Over the years I have met amazing, very interesting, well traveled people, all with a great story to tell. If you want to learn more, I love sharing my couchsurfing experiences with folks. Let’s do lunch! Please don’t dismiss this type of travel experience out of hand, with the thought of “I could NEVER do that!” Try to be open to new ideas and experiences, after all, isn’t that part of why you belong to this group? With all that said, this event is at a friend’s and fellow couchsurfing host. So this event will be limited to only 8 people from this group. Please, only serious couchsurfing curious people, RSVP. If you are coming, this is a potluck affair. Please bring some food to share. Bring a pumpkin to carve. BYOB and bring a camp chair. Wear appropriate clothing for the weather. The carving is typically done outside or the garage. There are canopies for rainy weather. I hope a few of you are interested in this eye opening, life changing way to travel the world. I look forward to seeing some of you there. Thanks, Margaret P.S. I will update the address when we get closer to the event. That is the road he lives on for planning purposes. It’s a great location next to Lake Hayward.
